My 16" senegalus from Lake Turkana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think i can make it in 2years on that pair
I'm in the second year now, woop.

Do you move your fish to a seperate breeding setup or not?

You may not know the answer to this but I'm gonna ask it anyway.
Let's say someone collected like 100 of those takana senegal bichirs full grown and then put them in a big pond/land/ pool etc, do you think the offspring would reach the same size or a bit smaller?

Depends on temperature, water conditions and availability of food.

I seperate them when fish are fully ready for breed
Makes sense, can't wait to see babies!

If the environment is good enough to grow, i think most of them will grow big.

When i buy and select my one in Japan, there are over hundreds of senegalus and my one js just normal between them.

And most of turkana senegalus keepers in japan reach over 35cm at least

I read stories about the ones from turkana hitting 2 foot or near it, did you see one near 2 foot in japan?

Nope, my one were biggest pair in there but official record of Turkana senegalus is 54cm
That's absolutely HUGE!

Back to Nigerian sens? How big do they get? I'm hoping nothing more than 30cm for my fish.
