I believe haits are special cases when it comes to cichlids, they have evolved on an island where no other cichlids were present, presenting aggression problems, and on an island where fresh water stays fairly warm, especially where the fry would grow up. They are a similar to Malagasy cichlids in their requirements, only more sensitive.
These are my breeding pair with their latest fry, this winter I had a heater crap out over night, the temp dropped from 85 to 75 by morning, 49 of 50 fry from that spawn died. Here's the lone fry survivor
