My 220 Gallon filtration headache !!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I highly recommend the Odyssea 700CFS canisters. It's an FX design so virtually no past through. I've actually made it work better by adding filter floss to the initial stage. Excellent mech filtration, and priced about the same as the 304b.

A used fx5...would be a lot better than 2x sunsun.

I just watched some videos on the Odyssea 700CFS I think that fits exactly what you are looking for.Cheap with a higher rated pump than the SunSuns and some bio filtration. I would go Odyssea if you were looking for only mostly mechanical and SunSun if you want to add more bio. You could do one of each too.

Do you have other tanks? If so I would say get the 2x SunSun's instead of Odyssea so that you can use one as a spare if the need ever arises.

I have a 55G , a 75G, and a 30G besides my 220. use eheim 2217 on all of them. The only reason why I think I find myself needed more mech on my 220 is because I focused on Bio filtration rather than mech on my 2262 canister. only use Filter Floss on top layer, everything else is bio. Aimed for a year maintenance goal on it.

Right now am just looking for the cheapest yet effective way to add more filtration on my 220

I'm happy with my two 2262 on my 220 gal.
I agree that the price is steep, but sometimes you get what you pay for. For me, it was worth the wait while saving up...

Good luck with your filtration, whichever way you decide.

Man that's a lot of filtration for a 220. How many fish do you have in the tank?

Yeah I know, that would be my goal on running two 2262 on my 220 but, spending $450-500 is not really an option atm. I do have some expensive fish in the tank and I feel like 1 x 2262 is not enough sometimes. I just got a new addition to the tank as well, a 12" Saddled Bichir, he's the reason why am on the market. I'm aware bichirs produce a lot of waste. Now that I look a your user name, my 2262 media was inspired by your 2262, I run exact same media setup
