Iknow what you mean, the Fx5 is sort of the mainstream filter when it comes to canisters on larger tanks, but if my fish are healthy, water is clear, what's the issue?Don't be defensive, I am only trying to help. Three emperors can not run a 500 gallon or a 220 gallon, especially with your stock. I have 3 emperor 400 and 2 fx5. I have many years of experience with both of the filters. If you don't want to listen to my advice, that is your choice. Fx5 are good filters and for your stock it would be prefered.
+1 but i guess if it works for him then good. Prlly just more vac and water changes.
So i guess the point is if u want to simplify effiecent mech/bio filtration a good canister will do xp4/fx5 etc
And ac100 over emperor anyday
50% water change with gravel vac weekly. Feeding 2-3 times a week. I know most people would take Aquaclears over Emperors, but I've owned 3 Aquaclears in my Fish keeping "time", and they've all ended up quitting on me within the first 2 years. That is why i figured i give Emperors a try, especially after seeing the results of that 500 gallon tank.
