My 22inch widebar dat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My point is that it just seems like you are splitting hairs because the guy has a smaller tank than what you have or had.By the looks of things he's done quite well for the dat and doesn't need for anyone to try to tell him which sized tank to house it in.

I stated in my very first post that it's a very nice ST
I think you are forgetting this ST is 22inch long and prob 12inch tall it needs a tank bigger than ?x2x2 if that's the size

Ok forget it if this is what you want to hear

GREAT FISH GREAT SET UP THAT TANK IS MASSIVE

What a boring forum this would be is that's all thread starters want to hear

....or we make it an exciting thread by criticizing the man's tank depth lol,it's not about what I want to see or hear.

This site rocks!!

TIKARMANN...You seem to be saying i need an upgrade immediately, that's fine, i just dissagree. Would it be nice..yes, but neccessary..i don't believe so. One of the first signs of stress is split fins...My fish have clean, unsplit fins. Another sign of stress is disinterest in food. I think my fish look pretty healthy.
My tank is far from overstocked, so bumping into each other isn't a problem either. 1 aro, 1dat (size irrelevant) in a 8ft length, 24in height, 30in width dems is ample amount of room imo.

What problems would i be avoiding adding 6inch of height or 6ft in height?

Hey everybody. Been raising fish for over 20 years and raising dats for over 10. Pretty new to the sites and forums. Just wanted to finally share the pride n joy of my 300gal with my fello dat lovers. Also had to throw in a pic of my pleco rock. Thanx for looking!

if you read the catfish section of this forum i wonder how many times per week people state that tanks to small for a red tail cat but it seams i must keep my mouth shut about tank size in the tiger section even if i feel its wrong

but hey people dont seam to understand the pure mass of a 22inch tiger i know for a fact if i put mine in a 24 deep tank it would be cruel

a 24 deep tank only has about 20-21inch of water so yes its way to shallow

a tiger wont get split fins if its got no other fish to split them and losing colour i could take my ST out kick it around the floor and it would still have colour and feed the same day so im not sure were you get this idea from they are a very hardy fish its transport they dont like as they produce a lot of waste in transit

your ST must be 10inch tall giving it 5-6inch above and below it the above 5-6inch it need to share with a aro that is not right i dont care what you say

I think the word cruel is a bit much here, but that's your opinion and i respect it bud
I've seen many pics of tanks much bigger than mine (600gal plus) that are loaded with multiple aros and dats which have badly split caudel fins. And yes, they have much more up and down room. Is that cruel as well? Isn't is cruel that the alpha dat in most cases gets a much higher % of the food which leaves everyother dat a bit stunted over time?

Once again, thanx a whole bunch to the members for the nice comments on last couple pages!!
