My 25G Paludarium comments love / hate?

^ Hahaha, no worries... atm, i'm thinking the most realistic and possibly easiest way is to actually lift the whole plant out and trim its roots, then to re-plant it again... any other method i have thought of would basically end up being more work in the long run and could be more detrimental to my tank...

But oh well, i guess thats all part of the fun of creating a mini forrest at home...

Why not just leave the roots?

^ As i mentioned in one of my earlier posts, basically coz i have so many plants i don't want the roots to take over the area below the land area... causing problems later on such as fish running out of swimming room...

Like if its a little bit i don't mind coz it adds to the effect of the tank, and makes it more interesting for the fish... but really want to avoid letting the roots from taking over the bottom of the tank or else i'll never be able to remove it without tearing the whole tank apart...

I doubt they will take over the bottom.

^ One of my plants has already reached through to the water and growing down and spreading out... if it starts touching the dirt on the bottom, i'll have to cut them back or i may never get them out...

I would just leave the roots. Do you have any intention of tearing down the tank anyway?

that is really cool but IMO there should be more water for more fishies :D

I agree, which is why this is a trial run, then once i work out and encounter all the potential problems i may face, i will most likely setup a larger tank and turn that into a paludarium with more fish and possible some sort of reptile:naughty:

In fact, yes i do plan on tearing the tank down at some point, plus, i don't want to sacrifice too much of the water area, since the area is already reasonably limited, and i don't want it the fish to run out of open swimming space...

Once you setup the bigger tank I would leave the roots to grow.

^ Even then it would really depend on the type of stock i have in the tank... if they like a lot of heavy cover then i may possibly let it get a bit out of control before trimming it back, but if they prefer a lot of open swimming area, then i'd probably still end up trimming the plant roots before it got too crazy...
