MY 300+ GALLON BUILD

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that tank leaked again, we were getting ready to move it inside after three days took it off the stand a saw two tea spoon sized spots of water underneath. so two more gallons of zavlar and now it has held with no leaks for a few days and has been moved into the house.

i started to set it up i laid down 1/8" acrylic on the bottom to protect the rubber from rocks. i was worried about putting any thing directly on the rubber because it never really seems to harden, no mater how long i let it dry for if i left the work light in the tank it would leave a imprint in the rubber not sure i'f any one else noticed this. the rubber is suppose to stay flexible i was just worried a rock may push threw .

i also put some cut up milk crates in the tank to help get my rock piles taller with less rocks hoping that they won't be seen will full and creates some big caves in the corners. (i will remove the blue glass just wanted to make sure the drift wood stayed sunk)

the rocks looked so big in my other tanks and in person but in this tank they look puny.

Hey thanks for the complements everyone.
i add the rest of the drift wood i had planted with lace jave fern and added the anubias barteri and congensis i had.
i stocked the tank today , i'm using seachem stability to help cycle and i also added all the biomax i had in my fluval 404. everything looks alright so far see what happens.
side note i herd that zavlar will raise your ph in the tank but i have not noticed it so far it test the same as the rest of my tanks 7.6-7.8.

I'm glad it all worked out. After reading through this thread I think I'm going to put another layer of fiberglass on mine. My water height is 32" too. Sometimes I think I learn more from people that had problems than from others that had no problems.

How much do you think it had to do with the flatness of your floor? I know my garage and basement floors are so wavy it's like they hired ten yr. olds to do it.

My guess is it had allot to do with using osb and trying to go with no external bracing plus my carpentry skills are not to good. i would level and shim my stand before filling it but that only goes so far. ya the house i'm in is built like **** but they got the basement reasonably level surprise surprise
