thanks for the info, but I just used alchohal with cotton balls to clean the surface while I was scraping off the old silicone.

My 55g is leaking... AGAIN! and from the side this time....

yeah I know... but I didnt till just now. I just used like a plastic big bottle thing that you could put pickles or whatever in, worked fine... I had to lug it downstairs and out into my garage by myself that was a treat especially with dogs and cats trying to trip me... :/ Im going to go to homedepot after I seal it, I have to take a charger back that isnt the right one for this drill I bought my dad for fathers day, and Im going to pick up a bag of play sand and put that in my 55g once its all done, and hopefully not leaking... If it is Ill be pitching it, or trying to convice my mom and dad into letting me get a chamelion ( spelling?) and take the sides off flip it long ways, and screen it, or try and find a cheap 55g or bigger on craigslist, Im not spending $150 on a new 55g I dont have the money after going fathers day shopping lol..
Petsmart sells them $1 a gallon during their sales... that's $55 + tax, not $150.
You need to stop taking short cuts (not taking gravel out etc) and do it correctly, or it just isn't going to work, and will end up leaking again.
Its Quikcrete play sand thats what Ive had and have in my 150g and its fine, thats what I was recommended from people on here. I would of emptied it last night but it was late and I was already exhausted so I did it today, that and I didnt no it could have gravel in there, plus I figured the pressure would be good , and that itd make the bond stonger? anyways Im going to go and start working on it in a few, I went and got a straightrazor, so Im not just using a blade anymore, and I got a tube of GE 1 silicone so I can use the caulk gun instead of the squeeze tube.
Its Petco here that does the 1 dollar a gallon sale but thats only once or twice a year. I would go pool filter sand instead of play sand. I have Pfs in several tanks and never messed up a impellers plus it easier to clean and only a couple dollars more.
You said it leaked before. I would kick it to the curb and just get a new tank. The old one can be taken completly apart and recycled.
well its all resealed now, I can do a leak test tomorrow night right? or should I wait till tuesday morning?
