anything new???

I think it could make a great wall tank. just look at ultimatejay's 750 stand.
Hey Taz.... the tank is cycling right now. Yesterday I bought 50 rosey barbs to help me with the job. Main setup is complete, now I will concentrate on installing a manifold for four 20 gal breeder tanks I will place at the end...so I got to drill those tanks, etc. Will get more pics when they are up and functional. can you show how you're doing the automatic water change... I think I can tell from 2 of the pics.

it's real simple... I set the 2" overflow pipe around 15" low and twisted the Z overflow pipe to the water level I like. So...I got the water in connected to a water timer (available in the garden section of any hardware store). I know that it takes about 2 minutes to pour 5 gallons of water (already measured it with a bucket). So I set the timer to turn on everyday at 10pm for 30 minutes. That should give me roughly 75 gallons going in. When the water raises, anything above the preset water level, as defined by the position of the overflow pipe, simply goes through gravity to the outside of the house...:D

For anyone wondering about a stand... I would go heavier than 4x4's

A simple-strong-reliable stand could be made for under $70.... Get four 6x6's at 32" each in length and get four 2x12's at 8 ft lengths, and two 2x12's at 4' lengths... Get four hangers and 8 lag-bolts at 8" long and through-bolt each end. A lot of 3"+ nails or screws and a lot of glue....

That would surely hold 5000+ lbs.

I have seen roof-top decks with 20+ people on it supported by 30ft 4x4's. so 5000 lbs at 32" lengths would be no problem. Regular joist's are only 2x10's so 2x12's would even be over kill IMO

Hey ApacheDan,

Couple of questions if I may; What at the dimentions of the window? Am I right in guessing this is from AquaticEco out of Orlando? I live only an hour away and need to go see one of these bad boys in person. Lastly do you have a catalog name and or number for the filter system that sits atop the vat? Their site does not link filter to tank and I didn't see it in their online catalog, though I may have missed something.

Anyway, thanks for any info you might offer!

Hey ...no prob. Their address is listed as 2395 Apopka Blvd, Apopka, Fl 32703...very close to Orlando. Their phone# 877-347-4788. Ask them for a printed copy of their 2007 Master Catalog...shows a lot more details & items than their website. The actual viewing dimensions of the glass is 19"x 67". Catalog# for the filter box is FFB523 cost me $136.00. They also sell excellent bulkheads...might as well buy it there too. MInd you, unless you know what you want, the girls taking orders there are just that...not much help. I'm sure their techs know their stuff, but it is best if you already know exactly what you want. Good luck! ;)

...added airstones to help the good bacteria...water turning slighty cloudy, which is a good sign. Bought some rosey barbs, tiger tetras, 4 albino catfish to help get the biofilter running...still have ammonia & nitrites, but getting better...
