My 75 gallon sunfish tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you should get some better plants. Try getting some hornwort or anacharis, or some other cheap native weed. Those fake plants make the tank look a little ugly IMO. Other than that looks pretty cool. I think pumpkinseeds are on of the best looking sunfish.

I plan on getting rid of the plant on the left, and the fake grass type plant, just haven't got around to it. It may not look perfect, but the fish do seem to like them. The plants look better in person, well except the fake grass, that is kind of ugly, but the fish didn't like it when I removed it.

So I did get rid of one of the p-seeds, as he was nuts :). I also got rid of a bluegill because it simply hid in the corner all the time. Right now, I have 2 p-seeds and 2 bluegill. I do plan on adding a green as well.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Great looking tank and fish. I just got my 75 running and picked up a few sunfish from the lfs that come in with feeders.

I really like your aquascaping! I've been thinking about doing something like this for years but never followed through. The closest I got was one Summer when I caught four huge (for this area) 'gills and kept them for a few months.

hi first of all very nice fish you got and sorry i m hacking your post but today i got 2 p-seeds it wa an impulsive bye so need to know few things help please--1- Ideal water temp.2-what to feed them.3-tank mates if any and how aggressive they can be ...i have a 90 gal with me and have two sevrums there.thank you in advance

Well I have drastically changed the aquascape since I posted this. First, all the fake plants are gone, and I have started with live ones, though the plants are not native. I have also added a good amount of driftwood and changed the rocks around. I also have a few non natives in there are well, including a Demon Eartheater, a Rainbow shark and even a single Bosemoni Rainbowfish that I got as an experiment. There are also a few mollies, snails and shinners as well. I know it kills the theme, but I like it. I will try to get new pics and video, but right now I am fighting an algae problem that is almost clear, but until then I don't feel like publicly displaying the tank

Tank is kept at 77 degrees which I worried would be too warm for the Pseeds, but they have been fine. In fact, adding the heater really brought the fish to life and really helped on finally getting them converted to pellets. I was having a real hard time in the cold water with getting them off of live foods. Really since the first day I increased the temps they have been eating much better.

So right now my stock is:
2 Pseeds
2 Bluegill
1 Green Sunfish
1 Demon Eartheater
2 small yellow bullheads (these will eventually need to be moved out)
1 golden shiner
1 Bosemoni Rainbowfish
1 Rainbow shark
2 black mollie
a crap load of snails

I heavily filter to keep up with a large amount of biowaste, but other than that I have few problems. There is very little aggression in the tank (helped by the overcrowding imho), except the Eartheater HATES the green sunfish. I am hoping this calms down a bit as the Greenie grows since he is still a bit smaller than the Eartheater. If not, I will probably move the greenie to his own tank. I keep reading how these guys can be uber aggressive, but my Green is definitely the low man in the tank
