Hey guys, Im finally done with my tank! Over the past couple weeks Ive been collecting things here and there and getting everything all together and Just tonight finally I got my tank up and running. My dad and I built my stand and I really like how ot turned out. Anyway here are the pics..

I got a FX5 filtering this tank and plan on getting a couple Red Bellies once the tank is cycled.
After about 20 min of it running I did a water test to see what I had.

PH...8.8+
Ammonia...1.0ppm
Nitrate...0ppm
Nitrate...0ppm

Sounds about right to me all except for the ph level... Why is it so high? How can I cure that? Whats a good level I want it at for my piranhas?

Also.. I plan on doing a fishless cycle. So I picked up a bottle of pure ammonia. Now Ive read many cycling articles but They all say to add 5 or so drops of ammonia per 10 gallons or something. Well I don't have a dropper so is there another way I can do it? Like a teaspoon per day or something?

Add a teaspoon and let it filter through. Wait until you see nitrites, then dose some more ammonia. Keep doing this until that teaspoon of ammonia is filtered out within 12-14 hours. Once that happens, Do a full water change and add fish. Patience is key. The whole process could take between 4-6 weeks.

Or just not do a fishless cycle? Get a dozen minnows or a few goldfish for a few days n add ur rbps n them they can jus eat the fish as they hungry

go buy some "prime" Its wicked for cycling tanks. Throw some minnows or guppies in there also... boom... Tanks looking good tho !

For a bottle of instant cycle it's like 13$ and you have the filter running and the substrate in and pour the right amount and you cam put fish in instantly my LFS did it and they keep discus
