No, you're absolutely right. However, your specific gravity is essentially 1.000 right now. BGK can handle at least 3 tsp. (1 tablespoon) of salt per 5 gallons, or double what you have right now, as that's the general "tonic" dose used for treating FW fish. Even that's only like 1.001 SG, if that.

Eventually, you'll need to move the BGK and pleco elsewhere, as the monos, scat, and Arius cats will require higher salinity with age. Ultimately, 1.005 SG or higher is recommended for long-term health. Of course, even Java fern, the hardiest of traditional aquarium plants in terms of salt tolerance, can only handle up to 1.005 SG. Of course, mangroves can take higher SGs.
