My Albino Knife

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's shape, mouth, and the size of it's eyes look like papyrocranus afer. I have a black one.

Is it aggressive? If so it's a papy, if not, well it's some other featherback ;)

:D Aren't we all?

I do have some private students that age and they're a blast ... sponges too!

About the knife, I'm still undecided as to whether is an albino featherfin / asian knife (notopterus notopterus) or an albino papyrocranus afer.

It does look rather like the featherfin in the pic below, but whiter. It also says that they're farm bred.

Me too! :D

I started him eating small raw shrimp pieces this week and he's loving it..

Hi JB,

I have a similar fish and suspect it's Notopterus notopterus. Even the lfs seller wasn't sure of its identity :irked:

I'm glad to know someone is keeping this fish. Mine's growing rather rapidly from 3.5" to almost 5" in 3 months. AKs are reputedly known to reach maximum length of 1 foot in the wild. I shall have to find that out personally with time. He's a gem.

I agree with you now. I don't think it's papyrocranus afer anymore cos they're so rare and my knife was quite cheap. What are you feeding yours?

Nice Albino! Looking at the face and how the nose is blunt...I'm going to say you have an Albino Notopterus Notopterus. I've seen them on sale a few times. Not very often :( But I've read that they are the most aggressive out of the Asain Featherfins. They can reach 2 feet in the wild and will grow about 10" to 12" in captivity. Good luck with it! Gorgous little guy!
