Nice Albino! Looking at the face and how the nose is blunt...I'm going to say you have an Albino Notopterus Notopterus. I've seen them on sale a few times. Not very often :( But I've read that they are the most aggressive out of the Asain Featherfins. They can reach 2 feet in the wild and will grow about 10" to 12" in captivity. Good luck with it! Gorgous little guy!

Thanks! Maybe I can get him to 2' in my tank, too ... I'm just about to feed him some chopped shrimp pieces. He loves it! :D

JardiniBoy...not to bring up old posts but how id your albino knife doing now? My LFS has an albino knife so I wanted to do some research on it first. Are they rare...it was a bit more pricey than the other knifes, so I passed it up for now but it has remained on my mind. Thanks for any onfo you can shed...

Hey bro ... there's a sad end to the story of my little albino knife. I had had him for quite a few months and he had grown to around 6-7". I though he was ready to be introduced into my monster tank cos I'd put my RCK in there when he was only 8" not long before that. He lasted about a day, but when I came home from work he had "disappeared".

I really sucked and I felt soo s___ about it ... the only reason I didn't post it up here was cos I didn't wanna draw it out and make it worse.

Anyways, awesome fish and you should pick one up if you can.

Very cool knife

That is a sad story.. i am sorry to hear it..

Hi JD,

Sorry to hear about your fish.

I am also concern about releasing my 5" albino into the main tank where an 11" BGK resided. Am planning to wait until the albino reaches similar size of the BGK and feeding them both too well first before attempting to mix them with round the clock observation for a day or two. I need to create many hiding places for both as they are territorial about their "homes" (from observation).

I hope you find another albino soon.

Sorry w.vix ... only saw your post now.

I think you should be fine with that plan ... but you never know as each fish is different. I think my tank is fully stocked now, but if I wanna look at a beautiful albino knife ... woody_sun has one that's over 1'! :D

Sorry to hear about the loss man....really sorry.

However I took your advice because they look so interesting. I picked me up an albino featherfin 2 weeks ago. He's about 7" long. They really are cool, but this guy kept nipping at my royal clown that was twice his size so I moved it to another tank for a while. I also found an info link on them...not sure about the accuracy of data but interesting regardless. Cool fish, but the temperament rivals that of a clown knife.
