ill probably end up getting the 125 and just keeping reds in it. Thanks for your help
 
that's fine, you can still get caribes and ternetzi in there. it'll take a long time for them to get really big (a good few years) and most people will probably end up selling the fish before they really get HUGE. either way, make sure you post tons of pix
 
i got the 125. Im going to set up a piranha tank. Im going to take the yellow out and get a couple more reds and possibly some other species. I really want some caribes or super reds. Thanks for all the help
 
caribes would be sweet. I don't like super reds as much, all the ones I've seen in stores are not as colorful as I would hope them to be.
 
yeah i really like the look of caribes. What about piraya?
 
piraya is nice but more expensive. the only thing about piraya is that they get big and get big pretty fast as compare to other pygos, 125 would be nice for a grow out tank but over time can out grow the tank. mainly is the width. 125 is only 18" wide and if you get a piraya from small you can probably grow it to maybe 16" or so realistically speaking (even the max size in the wild is 24"). you'll get a good few years out of piraya before it gets that big but it's gonna happen if you keep it long enough.
 
I haven't had alot of success cycling tanks thru with Piranha, they are messy eaters that can leave alot of debris. Also they are small/soft scale fish and can fall to high levels of ammonia, nitra, and chlorine. Keep a close eye on the water parameters - frequent 20% water changes may be nessassary. Also don't be too over anxious to be throwing in new fish - let it cycle thru 1st then maybe 2 every couple of weeks. Your patients will be rewarded in the long run. Congrats on the 125 hopin' to see pics in the near future.
 
yes, piranhas are messy eaters, especially pygos, over filter would be a good idea.
I have two FX5 running my 180g mixed pygo tank, if no one buys my fluval 405 I'm gonna throw it in there too.

Thanks for all the compliments. I know i cant just throw fish all in there at once. I still have the p's in the 30 until i figure out what my exact plan for the 125. Thanks for all the help and i will get pics up as soon as i get it set up. thanks
