I was closely observing my armatus and I noticed that it kept openning it's mouth. That when i realized that one of it's front bottom fangs was crooked inwards at around 30 degrees! The root of the teeth is a bit red and bloody. What happened? Did my armatus freak out and bash it's teeth against the glass. My armatus isn't all that skittish. Sometimes when my bichirs dart around, my armatus does get giddy and it swims franticly around the tank. Could the teeth just be about to fall off because it's shedding? Even if the tooth was crooked at such an angle, will that tooth fall off and grow back normally? I also noticed that the other tooth (that not crooked) is darker than usual and it has a black vein on it. Is it a new teeth? what is happening??

I heard that a new teeth of an armatus FOLDS into place. could the inwards crooked teeth be a new teeth that is about to fold into place or is it just the old bashed one?

the bottom jaw of where the teeth are supposed to push out is all red and kinda bloody. will this effect how the future teeth will come out? I just realized that the crooked teeth is thicker and bigger than the teeth that's "normal". Could the crooked teeth be the new teeth that push out of place or no? any experience?

He might have smacked them i had a scomb back in the day what had one bent back into his mouth in a day or two you never knew it happened. Predators like this that rely on their teeth in the wild have resilient teeth. It should not effect the new teeth growing in. Just make sure there is no damage to the gum/mouth area to get infected and he should be fine.

From what you're describing, it sounds just like when my vampires get new fangs. Regardless of your vamp's tooth being crooked from damage or a normal shed, it will grow a new tooth to replace it. It's a natural coping mechanism and nothing to be concerned about.

PS- see if you can find the shed teeth!

I found one previous shed tooth and I put it in a small plastic container to begin my collection.
