I am being totally honest and sincere about this.. we were worried sick.. we tried everyday to feed him all kinds of foods that he had always ate.. but he just refused and swam away.. 5 weeks.. then we finally decided to try crickets...i was not happy about feeding live food but given the choice i did not have one..Anyway finally he went for the moving cricket and we were sooooo happy.. we fed him crickets for awhile and then slowly got him to eat the pellets again.. once his appetite increased he was back to normal..so do not stress if he does not eat right away.. i had 5 weeks of no eating.. and he looked a little thinner but no worse for it..oh and i just wanted to add large meal worms.. i just remenbered..took a long slow process of eating one a day to two a day..i mean it was slow.. but it worked .. then unfortunely he jumped out again and we did not find him in time... cover that tank with something heavy.. tape it down.. i sure do now!
Yup, it's very true that aros can go a very long time without food. Sometimes for no apparent reason too. It's like they go into the cleansing mode.
