I think it will help because most of what we call BB's are aerobic bacteria they need oxygen in order to survive. I just learn this practice in another forum (AF).

Thanks for the tip, but i'd still think about putting some of yours in net bags so if the power goes out you can put the bags in the main tank with the fish which helps keep things in check in your main tank as well as your sump.
