My arowana stopped eating!

seeing you don't know what it is you might as well try something. 25% bi-weekly is too small of a WC for you to have good tests in my opinion.

How could not doing enough water changes affect the arowana so drastically and quickly?
lets say you test your water parameters and it reads 60ppm nitrates after doing a 25% WC it will take it to about 45ppm... ideally you want the nitrates at about 20ppm. so if it's at lets say 40ppm you would need to do about a 50% WC. if you do only 25% the next time you go to do your "schedualed" WC it will be higher then the origional 40ppm, more like the 60ppm which then after the 25% WC you will 45ppm. and each time before you do a WC the nitrates will read higher then your previous tests.

Why would you regularly add salt to your tank?

All natural salt, made from evaporated sea water, promotes healthy gill function, reduces stress and loss of electrolytes. Used to improve the efficiency of medications and reduce the harmful effects of nitrite.

I only do 25% WC every 2 weeks and have never had a problem. I've had my silver aro for almost a year now and hes about 19 inches. Though when I first got him and he was young I was doing it every week until he was about 10 inches. Also I thought you only added salt when your fish was sick or injured? I'm confused or are you saying everyone should add salt regardless?

Though true it is not needed for healthy fish, if you use it regularly then it's effectiveness is reduced when really needed for sick fish.

What's with all the double posts, you know you can use the "edit/delete" if you want to add something. Or maybe your just wanting to build your post count:D
