Well I just set up my 180gal tank and so far I have:
4 tiger barbs
1 shovelnose
2 angelfish
1 cuckoo synodontis
3 clown loaches
1 Pleco
1 5" silver arowana

am I overstocked or can I add a pair of geophagus or severums or some discus? They all seem to be doing well

Thanks
Larry

What is the next size tank for your Silver? Also what is your filtration like also your water parameters....Answering these questions will help us in determining if you could add Geos or Discus.

Also recommend taking out the Tiger Barbs they are terrible fin nippers and they may tear up your silver, then your Silver will eat them for revenge:naughty:

Well this is the largest tank I have and I will not be upgrading soon but as soon as my arowana reaches 22" or so (tank width is 24") I will have to get rid of the arowana And perhaps buy a younger one. But so far I only have a ph test kit and it reads 7.0. The tank had been cycled for three weeks before I added any fish.

Bad news about the tiger barbs. There is only one left. I guess they got eaten. But atleast one of them will be saved.

I have a eshopps wet dry rated for 300 gallons with a 1800 gallon per hour mag drive. I hope this info helps. I appreciate feed back.

Thanks
Larry

It does help :) and i'd say you could go with some Red Cap Geos or some Rotkiel Sevs, I'd also suggest a black as they may not grow as fast but it'd still out grow the tank....What type of Shovelnose

I believe the shovelnose is spotted. But still is a juvenile and I can't tell. So I will look for a pair of geos or severum. Do you think it would be to much to add five or so discus?

I found out the shovelnose is actually tiger shovelnose. I f
oddly enough I just found two ofthe tiger barbs but one is still missing. If it turns up tomorrow I may just keep them in the tank.

tiger shovelnose will also outgrow your tank, but a arowana/geo tank would be great. i would reccommend against keeping discus in a true comm tank like that
