Ok thanks, if it fails again I will try the bala's and the smallest I have seen them around here is 3" anyway and that's the size he is so that should be fine. I will let you know what happens

I'd go with the Bala sharks as well mate, they will look good swimming with your ATF, I've been reading up on the ATF and a lot of info is saying keep them on live food until they hit 8"+?? I thought that pellets were the better option from live food when there young to stop them getting different diseases? I maybe wrong? This Is just info off the web

I left the night light thing on last night and put the barbs back in and so far it's all good :) I've never read that about the feeders :/ it would cost a lot anyway so it's pellets or frozen for my little guy, IME with all the other fish I have kept pellets help growth, activity and especially colour so I'm hoping I can get this working

You really want to get young ATF on frozen or pellet as fast as possible! Do not keep them on live till 8 inch, young ATF eat bugs, larvae, and eggs from the surface in the wild. Making young ATF the easiest to get off live. Nutritionally it will be better too! (Robs/Chics own advice)

Looking good!! I'm trying to get a local place to get fatf in so I don't gotta deal w/ shipping

Really though, my red wolf ate a few feeder guppys one time then didnt take frozen or freeze dried for multiple weeks. He was already broken to frozen and freezedried beforehand. ATF are way more delicate, i would hate to see one wasting away at a larger size just because its being stubborn.

Yea I'm gonna stick at it, if the pellets don't work after 2-3 weeks I will try frozen, he already seems to have taken a slight interest in the pellets that get into the current and dragged mid water so we will see, I will update with any progress or change of tactics.

Thanks for all of the advice so far :)

If he's noticing them already (even if just slightly), you should be able to break him fairly quickly. Just be patient with him and he should start to pay more and more attention over the next few days. Once you see him charge them, even if he doesn't bite yet, you'll know he at least sees it as a possible food source. After that, it'll just be a matter of a few days before he goes for them.
