you using Freud or Jeung's theories on that benefit thing? :screwy:

Im still wondering where your thoughts came from on that last post.

And yes...apparently the horse is still alive!

<-----shakes head and walks away....

you said something about benefiting the snake psychologically... nevermind.

I think I see bones poking through now.

I thought I was done, but it appears that horse just gave a few kicks.

If these snakes have no capacity to entertain themselves, what on earth makes you think they do something just to entertain you? That's just delusional thinking. Perhaps you need to take a course in animal behavior. Animals don't do anything unless it benefits them.

dude you really need to take a course in sensing sarcasm... seriously...

..and I can tell from your extensive ranting that there's basically nothing anyone can say that's going to change your mind. ...and or course just like everything you've said so far, that's just my personal opinion...

in the future I'd suggest you try using a little tact while you're up there on your pedestal.

just for the record I never said my snake wanted to hunt for the "thrill of the kill" ...that part's for me.

and also for the record. When I put the mouse in the tank, the snake was in her hide, and within a minute of the mouse poking its nose around her cave, she was on the other side of the tank, preparing for an aerial assault via the synthetic vines I have stuck in the back corner. I never saw her creep the cage, I never saw her climbing the vines.. ...I didn't even see the vines move.. next thing you know she's got her self in striking position and nailed the mouse when it crawled across the log.

..for the record, I'm going to believe that Doom did that for my entertainment. And I'm going to insist that she used strategy to put herself in assault position. Next time I feed her I'm setting up my video camera. I think having me there watching makes her a little nervous or something... at least.. I know she knows I'm there watching.

....and again.. having seen plenty of large ball pythons in photographs with no gaping wounds and stitches on their faces... ..how does that work by the way? ...large snake in the wild.. eating live animals.. perfect faces, perfect snake. ....snake in captivity.. taken out of its tiny cage and put in some plastic tub to eat gets a scar to remember a rodent by that it should have had the strength to crush like a toothpick in the first place...to be perfectly honest with you, the only thing I've really been offended by so far were those photos of snakes with wounds. It's my firm belief that an incident like that is one in a million in the woods.

When someone can explain to me how a ball python can live 20 or 30 years in the wild without being half eaten by rats.. ....oh forget it. I'll never feed my snake a dead mouse.. it's taking the snake out of the snake.

Did anyone here see any sarcasm in the above post? If so, then apparently I did miss something and I'll apologize. Just seemed like a genuine honest remark to me, but maybe I just interpreted it how I wanted to see it.

....were you looking in a mirror when you typed this? I mean, I'll admit I'm lacking in the tact dept when I post on this site, but hey, fight fire with fire, right?

Just let it go, no matter what is said its not going to change anyones perspective.

Synapse, sorry but I missed the sarcasm in your post too. I guess I lack "tact" as well. LOL!!

when I say you two lack in the tact department.. ..what I'm referring to is how you instantly blurt out things that offend people when it's entirely based on your opinion.

"some people can be so dense sometimes..."

I didn't even bring up the fact that you probably drive a car... and you as well walls.. ..drive a car? well.. you've seen the photos.. all those twisted up cars.. people with the heads sheared in half.. mangled body parts strewn across the road... ..but hey.. you're a careful driver right? I dunno.. I've seen the photos of what COULD happen.. I've witnessed plenty of accidents.. ..but I still drive, despite the risk. ..and I really doubt that a snake thinks about risks like that when it's hunting prey.. I think they're mostly concerned about having a clean shot.

and for the record.. I was being sarcastic. When I said I believe my snake did that for my entertainment, I don't believe that my snaked thought to herself "hey I know.. I'll scoot up these vines.. and then drop in like a ****ing ninja because that human over there might think it's cool."

I believe she did that for my entertainment because I find that kind of thing entertaining.. and if I want to believe that.. well.. I'm going to run around and tell everyone I feel like telling that to. Doesn't mean it's true. And for the record I know that snake couldn't give two ****s what I think.

in all honesty what bothers me the most about this stupidity is that both of you were quite helpful until I asked an honest, simple question and then voiced my personal opinion.

If you guys want to argue semantics to try and discredit me some more, let's take it to private messaging.. otherwise.. go back and reread how quickly you two made insulting remarks.

"some people can be so dense"

and

"all the cool kids are doing it."

Not to derail...but the last 2 feedings for my 9.5' Burm I have killed the rats myself just before feeding. Before that I fed live with no issues, with medium rats. If you have ever tried to feed a jumbo extra large rat to a snake...or a rabbit...then you will understand where the underlying issue is. Those large rats have power in their own right and very sharp teeth and all it takes is one bad grab by your snake...it will allow that rat to chew easily a deep gash right into your snake in its death throws. That is where feeding previously killed prey is appropriate.

This forum is about educating one another. Opinions and practices should be shared with factual basis. Some people have lack of knowledge and ignorance in certain areas that can easily be rectified by researching for themselves, as such this forum setting is an excellent venue to learn from. Tact has nothing to do with it...the point is getting someones attention to help them and their pet avoid future problems.

For me, I placed myself in the snakes "shoes" if you will. If I was afraid that rat would bite the hell out of me when I grabbed it, why not be equally afraid for your prized pet you are responsible for? "Captive" and "wild" is of no comparison in my opinion. In captivity, life conditions are easily controlled for the best possible outcomes.

Point of my own admittable ignorance.....
So, now I buy live and strike them over the head with a pole, knocking them out first. Problem is they twitch and jump around a bit and blood comes out of the head, and I hate doing that to the feeders. There is no place for me to get extra large jumbo frozen feeders that are frozen.

Is there an easier, less brutal way to kill or incompacitate fresh prey before the feeding that does not cause them to bleed and jump around? I feel horrible for them after that occurs:( , but it works. Online ordering or whatever?

My comments weren't based solely on opinion. I repeatedly commented on my own experience and that of others.

and for the record.. I was being sarcastic. When I said I believe my snake did that for my entertainment, I don't believe that my snaked thought to herself "hey I know.. I'll scoot up these vines.. and then drop in like a ****ing ninja because that human over there might think it's cool."

Your sarcasm was not clear. You shouldv'e worded what you thought a little better.

and also for the record. When I put the mouse in the tank, the snake was in her hide, and within a minute of the mouse poking its nose around...

..for the record, I'm going to believe that Doom did that for my entertainment...

Maybe it was the way you said "for the record" twice. The first time, you described your account of feeding the snake. And then after repeating that phrase, you gave your belief of Doom's action. By doing so, I interpreted that you were being serious on both accounts. And even by your words in that last post, you're implying that what took place did so in efforts to entertain you, which is untrue. The snake wouldv'e done the same thing if no one was even in the room watching her. I just think that you could have worded it differently to be more clear on how you felt, sarcasm or not.

Anyway, "agree to disagree" and all that jazz...I'm done with this thread. Hope your animals remain bite-free.:cool-1:

Are you mad? Where in this thread did "I" insult YOU?? You like to throw out whatever flies out of you mouth and then try to back down by calling it "sarcasm" then when that backfires you try to blame ME for insulting you first. Not ONCE did "I" throw an insult at you but you came in flinging your "sarcasm" at will. WTF? YOU need to re-read the entire thread.

And lets also add (since the horses ghost seems to be walking around) that YOU choose to drive. Your snake doesnt have a choice, its hungry and has to eat. So your comparison there is BS. YOU choose to feed it live prey it does not CHOOSE this for itself.
