My betta

A betta doesn't poop much.

One betta in a 5g with a shrimp, and a snail, and a few small plants will not need more filtration than a small air powered sponge filter. 50% changes every 7 to 10 days is enough. 2 weeks easy with a 10g.

I had 7 females in one tank. The rest were males, one per tank. I've had many others since 1975, but 12 was the most at once.

DRILLING: If the glass isn't tempered, you can drill it.
But thin glass is very hard to do.
If you glue pre-drilled wood plates each side of the glass with silicone, then scrape them off later it will help to prevent cracking.

Fill the opening with water to keep the glass cool, and go gently, gently, gently.
Yeah I've drilled many tanks. Ive helped set up a store and a breeding room at another store. I just drilled 50 40b tanks a few weeks ago for a stores breeding set up. I only cracked 1 and 2 holes were imperfect on 2 different tanks. They needed help I was there and needed money.....sometimes stuff works out. I am just worried about how thin this is. Good tip on the wood! Ty.

The only thing I didnt have for this set up was the light and the filter and I went overkill on both. Filter is turned all the way down and the spray bar is pointed out of the water to cut flow. I shoulda used a sponge. I think a sump would still make life easier though on 4 or 5 of these.

Yeah I was really unsure what he was doing. I thought maybe he was seeing his reflection but I dont think so. Then thought maybe he was showing off for me, so I went behind the wall and he was still doing it. Had to be the snail.

Oh the other update I had on this tank was I put an amano shrimp in with him yesterday. Its MIA I know there are a few places to hide and they tend to molt when you move them so maybe hidding. No body and Falazure was hungry at dinner.

Well apparently I solved the missing shrimp mystery. Found it on the floor. The tank has a lid and is only open in the back a little. I'm guessing someone was harassing it so it freaked and jumped around. One of the jumps must have been the "lucky" one. Someone........ I say someone because I picked up some ghost shrimp for my Schoutedeni and I put one in with Falazure. He immediately attacked it. Not shrimp friendly.
