i love the chilling bichirs in the plants too! It's more amazing than lying on the ground all the time ... and a good way to educate the bichirs to feed from the surface!

as i said before - fish-shooting day ...

Now my model is named lap - a hungry one:

One might think: "oh, this lap will get stomach ache with these gravel!"

No, no! He has - as all my other bichirs - a perfect technique to spit out the gravel AND keep the pellets in his mouth! My snakeheads do it the same way ... so this is no reason to get trouble about.

You have very nice relationship with your bichirs that they are willing to go out from their hiding spots to let you take photos (so much plants there!!). I think on top strobes won't do much help on lighting for taking photos for the bichirs (shielded by the plants). Great job done.
