My Birchir is injured. What do /can i do and does any one know what he's done?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh man. I honestly don't know about this one. Maybe Frank Castle Frank Castle , tlindsey tlindsey , or P predatorkeeper87 could chime in on this? Prognosis doesn't look great.
IDK, I am new to Polys J jaws7777 Dr.B Dr.B but in reptiles we call this "Stargazers" and it is fatal....I doubt they are related at all, but this cant be good. If you euthanize, remember Polys have lungs so freeze them. I'm sorry I can't offer more help. My guess is a parasite has possibly migrated to his brain undetected or some other foul pathogen taken ahold of the nervous system

I think its a baby endlicheri. Man it sucks but i would do as the others say and put it down. What's the temp Ammonia, nitrate, nitrite ?

Cant tell from the pic but it looks like its tail is a little nopped up. What tank mates ? Any aggression ?

In terms of water peramiters, nitrate, nitrite and amonia are all very low, can't remember exacts but they were all well in the safe zones.

Tank mates include 4 peacocks, non of which regularly bother him, but everyone now and then nip eachother. The fins in the image are folded down as opposed to nipped, but there are the odd rips from where he is less mobile.

On the heater note, yes there was a heater failure a few weeks back, potentially around the time this occurred so electrocution may be the reason.

What do people thing would be the best outcome?

More pictures will be uploaded later.

Tbh the poly is damaged internally, probably won't survive long .

If you have any ammonia or nitrites showing at all than your tank is not properly cycled and could very well be the cause.

sorry late to the party, just saw my tag....

as most others have said this is likely due to an injury, I had a gar who broke its back do the same type of motion/hehavior.

In all honesty this looks permanent, I would do as the others say and euthanize. clove oil if you have it, next best option in my book is a bag of water in the freezer.

Really isnt safe zone for nitrite and ammonia like owens said the tank probably isnt cycled. How long has it been up and running ?

Could be a combination of everything you mentioned. Never kept peacocks but africans can be aggressivr from what others say. It could be happening at night
