Finally found a blue acara, it doesn't have the greatest coloration, but hopefully with the right diet, that'll fix itself in time

As always, forgive the poor quality pictures :(

And is it possible to tell the sex at only 3.5-4" ?

it looks great !! very under rated IMO.... he will color up with a good diet and clean water

:iagree: nice fish not sure what sex.

Nice fish! I don't see them for sale often where I work.

Nice acara. I'd love to have one.

I am sorry to say this but that isn't a Blue Acara. It would be a very drab GT. I can tell because GT's are longer in body length (skinny) and Blue's have a chnuky upper body with a fat big head. They also have different face markings and your markings are a GT's. At my LFS they are pretty common and infact are right next to the GT tanks. It's pretty easy to tell them apart when they are right next to one another. Still that GT will color up nicely in time. I just got my very First GT 2 days ago and it is the MEANEST fish I have ever had. More so than my black nasty. He is only 2" maybe less and is ramming the glass hard when I come near. He attacked me the first day and he is already eating like a BIG pig. He fits the name terror very well.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone!

I was also thinking it may be a very dull GT due do it's body form, but since this fish has no orange, or green, or even brown, I decided it had to either be a Blue Acara, or some kind of cross between the two - if that's even possible. It sure does have the temper of a Green Terror though! I was able to hand feed it half a cube of blood worms, which it literally inhaled. ;]

I'm thinking this is what it will look like in a few months...

Yes I am almost certain it is. The fins haven't developed yet thats why there isn't any color but I do see a very small white edge on the fin. Blue Acara's also have orange edged fins as well. Yeah my little terror eats Blood Worms out of my hand as well and I have only had him 2 days. He was the most colorful in the tank and was beating down a jag 2 1/2 times the size of him along with various other GT's. He already has bright orange fins at 2" or less! With awesome color on his face. He is the first 2" glassbanger I have ever had lol.
