My Blue "Lobster" Crayfish

Hey everybody (my official "first post"),

I've had my blue lobster about a year now (50 gallon tank) and since he joined us I have experienced quite a few things that make him the centerpiece of my tank...

  • He loves to climb to the highest log or plant and jump off. Then he climbs right back up. Hangs a minute and then jumps again. We say that he is "basejumping". He does this for a few hours during the day and then goes back to hang out by his house.
  • He escaped once and scared the living tar our of me. I am not a morning person and I can't think too well until after I have had my coffee. I see something moving slowly across my carpet and it took me a minute to figure out what it was. Turns out it was "blue" (as in "You're my boy blue!") just hanging out.
  • He has a strange relationship with my placo. I feed the placo algae disks and I feed Blue shrimp pellets. The placo will eat the shrimp pellets and Blue loves the algae disks.
  • I just moved and since, Blue has become a bit more reclusive. In my old apartment, he would run around and around the tank for hours. Now, he basically hangs his head out of his house kind of like my grandmother used to in Brooklyn. Every once ina while he will come out and check things out, but then he goes back to just watching TV with the rest of us.

I used to give mine peas and pieces of fish. Theyll eat pretty much anything.
