My Brat pack... lol

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nope, M. Dayii. They do look alot like tt's though except for the spottign instead of the trademark track marks.

fish bases lists them at approx 10" and another source says 20"+ .. from my experiance they have the potential to be in the 24" range.. but unlikley as big as fire or armatus.. could be wrong. but the big "female" is 2yrs old and slowed growth but has still grown a few inches this year. so if they live into their 20's as other species potentially do.. they may hit 30" but tbh I doubt it.

i think i have seen them before, though i always assumed they were tt with an odd pattern...never picked up that they were a new species. Wonder is there is such thing as "odd" pattern tt then.

There are oddball pattern TTs out there but they are hard to spot when young. I've seen a few intersting ones but imo not as nice as the solid patterned ones. And they do look alot like M-dayii... the big difference if you look at the growth pictures is they have lines... that develop inot spots.. kinda similar to how florida gar patterns change as they grow.

And TY Joao. I wanted to show from the beginning how challeneging yet rewarding this branch of fish can be.

and george these gusy do grow fast! but there are plenty if smaller spineys out there!

I'll attempt to get some pics when I have the time.. But lil' update.. the lil' starry night and fire eel are getting along very well.. so good infact I am hopeing to comm them long-term.. they are both approx 10" now and will soon be moved to a 40Breeder for some extra space. our big M dayi has def hit another growth spurt and we will be moving her and her tank in the next few weeks... so I will try and get a more exact length on her but I wouldn't be surprized if she's close to or breaks 24", she eats anything and everything I feed the tank except pellets. krill, nightcrawlers, smelt, blackworms... ect. we've been moved into our first house now since x-mas but are still getting things in order.. got a dog.. ect etc.. so everyones just been chilling. Taxes will hopefully bring some extra $ to start working on the basement set-up. Hopefully by next year I'll be able to start set-up for breeding attempts, at least with some of the smaller species.
