Hard to get decent pictures of her now that shes in the 1k gallon pool but we'll see how big she gets now! fire eel may or maynot eventually take her place/join her depending on a few things in the future. but atm the biggest fish in the pool is a 24" tropical gar that is very thick.. and has a rep... so the fire will def stay in other tanks until 24" herself in all likelyhood.

With all the extra swimming room shes become much more active investigating everytime she sees me, and she took nightcrawlers from my hand w/out hesitation ( first time in the past few years I've owned her!) she is def a happy fish!

Could you make a vid of her swimming? Love seeing Eels swim and that one certainly has the space to do it ;)

I deffinately will! to show how smart these guys are... in 1kgallons and about 8 peices of similar sized DW.. she has returned to takeing up residance in the same peice she did in the 120.

I love your threads! I've got a TT at 15.7" and a Fire eel at 6". atm they're both in a 53gallon tank awaiting my 250gallon build in June. I'll be adding a further 4 eels to see if I can create the same tank my brother did when I was around 8yo (I'm 16 now) he had a 850litre with 3 TT and 3 Fire eel.

Both eels hand feed and are super personable. There's also no aggression, in fact quite the opposite. Both eels hang out together and eat from my hand at the same time. Spiny eels are my all time favourite. :D

I posted a video in the Photo lounge of the pool and the spiney does swim around in it abit! she's kinda staked out a spot atm so i haven't been able to get a good video of her swimming.

So it's been awhile since I posted here... I'm going to share some stuff that's still makes me cry.. and some promising pictures.... :)

The problems with the pool are now addressed *knocks on wood* we ended up loseing her and the smallest retic ray we had... thankfully that was all. But it was heartbreaking for both my husband and I as she was one of our favorite fish... On a more or less positive note we plan on aquireing a few more fire eels to be kept as a group in the pool w/ the gar long-term.

10' diam approx. 30" deep... we run it roughly around 800-1k gallons w/ filtration ect. atm it holds 8 gar 2 retic rays, and 2 catfish ( a TSN and a RTCxTSN. which will get their own pool as needed. There is a very good chance they will get large enough to eat some of the gar and the retics let alone some eels. but so far they have been playing surprisingly well with everyone else.)
