Thanks...and in a few more months I'll be extremely overstocked. Who to go though? It's not an easy decision.

well I think the argentea and the festae should definitely go....feel free to send them this way:naughty:

seriously, very nice collection and they all look awesome. i'd love to see some pics of the bichirs if you can coax them out. looks like I can see the eyes of one of them in the bottom pic. :)

Looks like a 6x2x2 or 6x18x24.

I have no advice to give you on what to get rid of, they're all great looking fish, all comes down to your personal choice.

Nice trimac and festae females..Who rules the tank right now? Also, how big is it?

I think it's 265 gallons but the measurements are 7' x 24" x 30".

No one rules the whole tank. It's divided into territories. There is a pecking order though if everyone is out in the open water. The Jag takes top honors, the Pike is second, Festae 3rd......for now. I don't get too much fighting though...maybe it's too crowded lol.

I know the tank is overstocked...I love all the fish and don't want to get rid of any of them. I think the Motag would be the first to go. He was a recent addition and wasn't part of the original plan and so is the Pike.

Yeah those are bichir eyes you see glowing in the last pic lol. I'll try to get some good pics.

it's possible if it's too overstocked that a pecking order will never be established and there may not be much fighting. I've seen tanks before that were way overcrowded and there was no fighting at all. granted, this won't allow you to see the more natural behaviors of the fish but you'll still have all the beauty of each of the individual fish. so I guess it's a preference issue...the only important thing with that type of way overstocking is to keep on top of water quality but judging by the looks of those fish, that doesn't seem to be an issue. they look incredibly healthy so you can always just kinda sit back and wait and start removing if necessary. :)

I was thinking the same thing, but it's likely that you're going to need to intervene at some stage because there's some very territorial and aggressive Cichlids in there. However, I agree, that until that happens, as long as you stay on track with water changes and cleaning, you can hope for the best while appreciating some great looking fish.

Look at them again and you'll notice I got stuck with a lot of females. Another issue will be if fish start pairing up.

Filtration is a 48" x 18" wet dry sump with an 1800 gph pump, a Fluval FX-5, a Rena xP3 and a Emperor 400. It used to have 2 FX-5's but I traded that to another tank for the xP3.

sounds like the filtration should be fine...just get yourself a drip system hooked up and you'll be all set and not have to worry about water changes except for once every so often just to clean the gravel :D

One of these days when I get enough time to learn about drip systems that sounds cool. As of now I'm doing a 60-70% water change once a week.
