my carpinte (i think!)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi thanks again everyone.
Carpinte is in a hospital tank, clown loach and friends are in the 180g. The caprinte has developed dark marks around the fins, i noticed this a while back as small spots that disappeared but thought nothing of it. (another mistake!) Praziquantel is available in the uk as this stuff
http://www.adflyer.co.uk/pets/pet-h...sional-tremazol-discus-tapeworms-100ml/627301
Is this treatment safe for clown loach, and also does it effect filter bacteria?
Thanks again!

the recommended dose of tremazol is 15l/ml for gill parasites and 20l/ml followed by an 80% water change 8 hours later or sooner if the water clouds. with a second treatment 8 days later for egg laying parasites. Does this sound right and will my clown loach be ok? if i can obtain praziquantel how is it administered?
Thanks again, i love my clown loaches!

It's a very mild treatment. Use this schedule as any possible flukes (that's what I am suspecting so far from all the symptoms described) can last at least a month based on their life cycle.

Day 1 -- remove carbon, perform water change with vacuuming, and add Prazi to tank
Day 2 -- add Prazi
Day 3 -- do nothing
Day 4 -- do nothing
Day 5 -- do nothing
Day 6 -- add Prazi
Day 7 -- add Prazi
Day 8 -- normal partial water change with vacuuming
Day 14 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 21 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 28 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 35 - normal partial water change, add carbon, treatment is complete

This is the schedule i will follow. When adding after the water changes im guessing you only add it to the new water?

Dump to the tank after the old water has been removed.:)

hi again, it came in the mail today so will probably start treating the tanks today. do i had a dose for the whole tank or just the volume of water changed? if its the whole volume of the tank just realised the 10g i bought will only take me up to the two week mark on the 180g!

Whole tank dose. It deactivates after 3 days so you need to redose in full amount instead.
