ok. Which texas have the wormy pearls instead of spot pearls at the face? Do they all or only Escondidos? Mine have wormy pearls at the face.
Escondido have wormies, but other variant may have them too. one of my carpintis has it too and its not escondido.

How many different variants are there for Carpintes??? Your's look just like Escondidos. Why are they not?

Couple more pix for a better look since I have them.

i think its chariel. Escondido at that size has at least 4 dark spots while chariel only has 1 in middle of the body and 1 on the tail. It also lacks wormy markings on face. Anyways very nice pearl already, you are expecting more?
having a black blotch on its dorsal doesn't always mean that its female, males are usually dull on the face.

Mmmm.. never knew that about the spots...

It depends what you consider a different variant. Every river has something a little different. Escondido's are nothing more then a certain collection location.

GOOD QUESTION!!

Since there are different variants of Carpintes. What happens when I breed one variant to another? Can you tell now??

What if I breed Escondidos withVontehillo? Or breed Chariel with Lahillas?

It would still be a carpintis. They are all carpintis. You will however no longer have the pure wild line that you would find in a certain river. You essentially would have an aquarium strain carpintis. That is why it is best to always keep the collection local with the fishes name so that lines can be tracked.

why wish? I personally think that lahillas is ugliest carpintis among, they have smaller spots and so much space between pearls, its pearls are slightly bigger than true texas.
