If it's usually better but hasn't had the usual attention lately that may be the answer. With an overstocked tank, keeping on top of water changes, filter fiber or filter pad rinsing (with tank water or well water, not chlorinated tap water), and gravel vacuuming can make all the difference. I have an Aqueon 400 gph Quietflow on one of my tanks-- an effective filter for a hang on filter ime (depending how you set it up with media). But as a fast filter and not a huge media chamber they need to be rinsed regularly ime with a decent size tank or stock level.Liquid API master test kit, I do vacuum but haven't done anything in 2 weeks cos I'm away at college at mother taking care of it, I'm back in 2 days
