As I said I think it is a red empress (Still young to tell.) But if you are getting a 120 that will be more than enough for any hap it is going to turn out to be. (I think it looks like some sort of Protomelas for sure.)

But this is the one I think it is:

(Click on images and young male and it should look fairly close, the vertical strips come and go depending on how stressed the guy is right?)

yeah i look at the young males and looks very similar..

whats the sciencetific name for Orange blossum peacocks and albino peacocks (what im told they are called) all white with orange / redish eyes..

thanks for your help

Well there are a lot of different albino peacocks. Though the traditional is the albino Eureka Reds. I have some tend to be more colorful when they aren't with a lot of other fish. (Of course that all depends on the fishes personality. (full name is: Aulonocara jacobfreibergi "Eureka Albino")

As for the second type. Orange blossum/strawberry peacock, Dragon Blood, all of them are linebreed Aulonocara of some species, likley hybrids too. They are very pretty fish but well basically a mutt... Depending on what you are trying to do you either love them, hate them or tolerate them I guess. (I like them for showing off fish and encouraging people to get into the hobby, I hate them in the sense that they cause good strains of fish to diminish even quicker... That said I have a large number of OB peacocks/haps which all fall under the same category of linebred/hybrid... So I like them to keep but would never breed them to sell...) Knowing me I will likley pick up a dragon blood when I see one at a reasonable price.

i got a albino peacock today from my lfs for my credit i had and hes alot smaller then my hap and my ob peacock and he seems like hes the "BOSS" already lol at fisrt he followed them AROUND now they play tag but for the most part they seem all happy doing there normal rutine in playing and alll 3 fed good i might get another peacock tomorrow or alot more rocks from a landscaping place im thinking rock for alot more spaced then more fish i want for now about 6 - 8 tell i get my 120 when i get my house sometime next year...

but thank you for all your advice...
some of trhe best i got since i got into this hobby..

thanks!

OB is a generalized term used for fish with the speckled pattern. It is indeed a peacock of sorts. Full bloodline on mixed with what is unknown, some say mbuna, others haps... It is considered a peacock despite its uncertain origins....

what all 3 of my africans get along really well so far the little white one i just got sunday follows the ob around alot and my ob and my hap really starting to show good color and if you look close to them u will see lil peices of shiny color coming out i dont know what its from or what but seems alot more brighter hopefully good....

and i just bought 23 pounds of lava rock for 6 bucks today and set it up so now my tank is ready for more fish i still got my unnatural looking gravel but that will change on my next major cleaning today i just did a 50% and added the rocks after a very good cleaning of them..

Ill have pics up tomorrow of my whole set up..

Well today i went to pets mart and seen a lil african cichlid not 100% what it is but it was in a assorted african tank and it had a albino (like mine i have) in it and some obs so i figuered it can go with my fish to but the reason why i got it all the other fish were like md size no smaller then 1 1/2 inches and on the left side of the the lil guy it seemed like he got picked on i dont know or maybe scared by the rock but it was packed with other cichlids and to me it seemed like he was getting the ****y end of it so i got him for my 60 gallon

and atleast in my 60 he has alot of hiding places with less fish then at pets mart..

i'll have picks up in a bit as well as pics of my new tank set up check back in like 45 mins

thanks..!

Oh and he is all white with black stripes maybe someone can ID him with that he has no other colors (yet)??

Now just so you know haps/peacocks are not rock dwealers so don't go overboard with the rocks. (Mbuna need them... will talk more about them after you answer my first question.)

As for getting pictures... Well I end up taking ~150... I like ~40 and I show ~20. But for getting things in focus, try focusing on a rock at the distance you want to take a shot of the fish... then you need to keep that focus and snap the fish at the right distance. It take time but I find you get the most focused pictures that way. Then for lighting... well albinos do very poorly with flash for many cameras... so you might have to play around with the iso, and other settings. But if you use flash get very close to the glass and hold the camera tilted. It takes a while to get used to and you will still have flash spots sometimes.... But practice is about the only way you will get better. (After you get to a stage of understanding more subtle tips can help, but once you get good with your current camera it starts to get to the point were you just need a better camera.)

Anyways full tanks shots I never use flash since they don't work. You just need to light your tank well... But then the OB, and the other maybe red empress do really well with flash, though without flash they can look like an entirely different fish.
