Hello everyone. I just came home from a business trip and noticed my cincta guarding a clutch of egggs. I'm absolutely thrilled!

Enjoy the pics. You'll see the opaque eggs Hanging from underneath the wood. I'm so excited!

Thats awesome, congrats.

Contrat's, thats great!!!! Is it the first time that this species has bred in captivity?
Whats you secret? Are they hyper aggressive at the moment? Sorry for all the questions it's just very exciting news!!!!

Thank you terror. I believe they are the first time from what I know. They are in neutral water at 81 degrees. I have them in a riparium layout with lots of emerged plants suckling up all nitrate. I think that coupled with the uv sterilizer is doing the trick.

I just added the uv last weekend and fed them crayfish and lots of guppies. I didn't expect them to breed.

They have pushed the sevs, the oscar, and the hoplarchus into one corner and are pretty aggressive.

Thanks!

Nice man!!!!!! Calling first dibs on the fry!!! LOL congrats man! I'd also lower the ph of the water a bit some people had some theories that lower ph is essential to development of lugubris pike eggs but it's just a theory. Congrats man really an accomplishment can't wait to see a baby cincta growout thread! (Well 2 actually when u send me some ;))

Too cool!! Fingers are crossed for you!!!

Very cool, I hope it all pans out!

Thank you everyone. I am going to see how far the parents go to keeping the spawn since I don't have an extra aquarium.
