Hello B.K.

the most interesting question is: Why they are all dead?

Did they die all at the same time due to a technical accident or are these pictures made over a long period?

Greetings

Uwe

6/7 of them died of internal complications through out a period of 2yrs, and 5 of them were sudden deaths with no symptoms.

is this one of the most common sickness / cause of death for bichirs?

I keep senegal for 2 years I did not experience internal complications. maybe the feeder you feed them did that... I love that tiger delhezi you have. hope I could have that one someday...

Hello B.K.

i can only talk about the experiences made by keepers in Germany ...

Bichir's lethality is caused in the most cases by
- Macrogyrodactylus polypteri (a parasite)
- secundar exterior bacteriosis (mostly after affection with M. polypteri)
- after break-out of the tank

I've seldom heard about interior infections. Bichirs are remarkably resistent against affections - is there any possibility of ...
- injuries due to a sharp substrate (like lavatite or other vulcanic substrates). This substrate could feed accidentally with pellets etc.)
- feeders with a bad quality (feeders are often unfreezed/freezed/unfreezed/freezed and so the feeder gets some bad state - especially inside ... lever etc. You may not see it or smell it ...)
- are there any opportunity for the lost bichirs that they got a synodontis, ancistrus or another fish with "armored" fins?
- what's about your water - especially the fresh water you are using to make some partial water-change?

It could be bad luck to loose one bichir - but you have lost some more. It is important to find the reason.
Sometimes the reason is anything no-one thinks about ... so i've listed some reasons that sounds a bit crazy ... but it's a attempt to help!

Greetings

Uwe

Nice SB endy and tiger del, too bad they are dead. They would be nice to watch in the tank if they are very much alive.

Is there any prevention/cure for internal bacteria infection? I have 2 endies dies of unknown reasons for the pass 2 weeks and I may have a few bichirs showing signs of sluggishness, irregular swimming and has not eaten for some time.

Sorry about your loss man. I like the pineapple short body senagal. Thats horrible.

Did you have any fish that might have developed a taste for slime coat with them? Were any of them ashy before death? After talking with a friend at the LFS it seems that the main reason I lost my Bichirs was the DAMN Verigated shark I put in the tank to control the algae.... He has developed a taste for slime coat and now that I think back on it every fish I lost was in the tank with him even the 2 black Moors. they all turned ashy and then got infected......
Trying to keep myself from making a wall hanging from the Shark but it is not his fault he was just doing what fish do......

Edit:
Umm were you going to make some Pho out of the endli? (asked because of the spoon in the pic)
