Recent post had similar looking patterned poly sold as delhezi. Check out posts 50-55 and compare the pattern to yours. Seems like a ansorgii/endli cross.

I see what you mean with the pattern. The head shape looks different though. Ansorgii x Lap maybe???

EDIT: Scratch that thought, upon trying to look for such a hybrid I couldn't find anything. I think you're onto something with the Ansorgii x Endlicheri thought though. The more I look at pictures of them the more I see it.

Imo i kinda like the hybrid, i was trying to buy some if the vendor reply on my emails, :)

Hybrids can look cool too. I'm not much of a purist so I don't mind. Hope you get that reply!

I just took some more pictures of the bichir in question.

Those pics make it look like more like just a stressed lap now, lol. I guess you will just need to let it settle in and color up before you can properly ID it

LOL. Okay we'll give it some time to settle and I'll post some more pictures. The fact that my Kelberi Peacocks are always going nuts chasing each other around doesn't help. Just wish they'd sell faster so I can really focus on the polys.

Lol, yeah better not get me started on the ID at this point. In the close up of the head I see a mark on the cheek that makes me think it could be another type yet.

Are you referring to the white 7? I've seen someone try to distinguish P. bichir lapradei and P. bichir bichir by this white 7. I don't remember what they ended up proving though. I believe my endli has it as well.

Welcome to the Poly Club, lol... But ya nice collection. Looking forward to seeing their progress. One thing though. The white sand will affect their patterns to stay faded. Consider changing to a darker tone if and when you get the chance. All poly keepers can attest to better patterns changing when red, or natural colors are used.

Thanks, I have read about the color of the sand influencing their colors. I don't know how easily I can find red sand in bulk. Black sand would be much easier and much cheaper to find. Would black be a good option? As soon as I get rid of these bass I can change the sand, at the moment it'd be too much of a headache.
