My columbian Flower stingrays from Massaggression Day 1

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i was told about the trout worms when i got my flower... i thought none of my rays like them they like earthworms.. However my flower would not touch anything but trout worms or red-wigglers. You can get them at pets mart but you have to ask for them they keep them in the back.

havent read the whole thread but you might try ghost shrimp too.

So, keep these small worms are trout worms/red wigglers? Interesting. I plan on buying a bulk of worms from knutsons. But, I first wanted to make sure my flowers would eat worms in general?
In the next few weeks I'm getting four more stingrays. So, I'm sure the n crawlers won't go to waist :naughty:!
Sure, I would love to try ghost shrimp! Do u know of a website that sells them in bulk? Or, how do I attain ghost shrimp in general?

You can tell trout worms as they have a different smell and are tougher skin than earthworms/nightcrawlers.
pets mart, or any local fish store should have ghost shrimp.

why would you get 4 more rays in the next week if your having trouble getting these to eat? Not to mention tank size and filtration. You should let these settle in for atleast a month and make sure they are eating before you add any more tank mates.

Whats your wc schedule like?

agreed...get these eating and comfortable before adding more rays. when these are settled, it will make any new additions acclimate sooner as well. you need to slow down a bit..enjoy these new ones a while, then step up and get more.:chillpill::chillpill:

My female is feeding she's not the problem. It's my male he is the one that I want to see eat more. He ate some shrimp on saturday but that was it.
I didn't ask nate but I wouldn't mind just keeping the flowers and the pretend bds(when I get them next month). And, have him refund me on the marbles. I'll ask him but he'll probably give me a speech about how some other customer will wonder? "why is the marbles up for sale again? Is there something wrong with them?" Nate said something like this before.
I wouldn't mind waiting on getting the other rays. But, I'm afraid it will take even longer to get them. If, I don't try to pursue them now.
I have to get my pool setup. Maybe I'll buy two fx5's and use them for filtration? Read that they each can handle 400 gph.
Before the rays I was doing weekly wc. But, now that I have them I can do every other day or everyday. Small frequent wc will be good.

Patience, it took me three and a half weeks to get my female flower to eat. Get your system stable, do water changes more often with newer imported flowers. Especially with a smaller tank and under filtered systems. Once you get flowers acclimated and eating well in captivity they become like any other ray.

Good to know shadow. But, again my female eats fine! hehe I setup my emperor 400 and penguin 330 hobs and am going to start them up today. Looking to purchase a few fx5's for the pond and be done with it. lol

I have a small columbian ray in a 150 gal with a few tank mates and I run 2 FX5's a fluidized bed filter and a UV sterilizer. I still make water changes twice a week just in case. (nitrates are at 0!) You should definitely get the filtration set up part balanced before getting more rays, trust me I understand how addictive these guys can be, I got my baby on the 19th and I almost picked up a female on Monday! But I stopped myself cause I wanna make sure things are perfect for my ray and his buddies.
