my computer desk into a tank desk Q

I disagree. A 29 gallon tank will weigh approx. 240 pounds when filled with livestock, rocks, and water. Get you (or maybe your uncle, depending on your weight) to sit on the desk and move around a bit and if the desk stays rigid, doesn't sway, and doesn't creak, then the desk is more than stable...

None of my 30 gallons are on "stands" made specifically for them. I have 2 of them on large end tables on each side of the couch, and 2 more on a bookshelf in the office.
 
sit on it as it is now.....lol i turned mine into a tank stand when i first got my tank haha hmmmm just sit on it now with the comp on it and if its holds ya it'll be reet.

You want your 29g to go where the monitor sits right?

IF so.. I agree with the others.. It might work. Another good thing is if you have any weights from a weight lifting set you can set them on there to see how much it bows. Even if it bows then you could possible get a friend/family to make a 2x4 frame sit in that shelf underneath to provide extra support.

You have been on this site for 2 years I see that as plenty of time.
 
Well it might be able to support it, but keeping a tank on there isn't a one time weight of 240 pounds, its a long term deal.

Think of it this way, you may be able to hold 2 50lb weights in each of your hands and walk around, but do this for an hour and you won't be able to anymore (unless of course you are very strong).

You could probable support a 29 gallong tank with eggs (like that school experiment with an egg and 2 bottle caps) but in time that tank is going to smash all of those eggs as it might smash your computer desk if you don't build a frame for it.

IMO you are just better off building a stand out of 2x4's.
