my convict picture thread NO FLAMING PLZ!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No more rainbow gravel! hooray!

Its amazing how much improvement changing a few things can make. I remember adding a black background to my tank, and it looked 10 times better.

Are you going to get live plants? Because they will probably die, unless you have a ton more lighting than I think. Plastic ones will look good though.

good luck with your aquascaping adventure

well took out the rocks AND I CAN TELL U TOOK ME A HALF HOUR TO TAKE OUT 70 TO 80 MED TO LARGE ROCKS ) cause my fish were scratching on the rocks but now doing a hell lot better.. if i can prove that my cons are gonna have frys i can get a 10 gallon nusry tank YAY

update, 2 are paired off so far. male ( has a TADDD BIT LIL orange and is bigger ) and female. the male tail whips the female and watches her dig a lil in the pot. they both gang up on the other fish and both are also BEeautiful.

im not i LOVE the sand and its awesome watching them swivel there tail in the sand to dig for a cave!!!

Another cool thing with sand is to watch the parents shuffle their body around in the sand to kick up food for the fry.

a mile and a half from my house and let me tell u, carrying them is a hell of a lota work

I remember I used to ride my bike to a river near my house. I'd bring along 2 bags and a back-pack, fill them up and ride home. I rode home with about 200 pounds of rock at a time- that was insane, can't even imagine walking though.
It's great in 2 aspects though- you get really strong very fast, and you create a beautiful tank.

always wash wild plants before introdusing them to an aquarium.

A simple rinse will not kill anything living on the plants. Leeches, snails, viruses, bacteria, and so many unwanted things can end up in your tank unless properly cleaned. They should also be placed in a fish-less tank for many weeks to ensure there is nothing left on them.

I'd recommend cleaning plants with potassium permanganate. I forget the mix, but you add some to water in a bucket and soak the plants in it for a few minutes. Potassium permanganate can be found in Sears in the appliance section.

Keep some rock in there. If the rock is flat (I'm assuming it's slate), it shouldn't be doing any harm to your fish. Try fewer rocks, maybe 10-20.

pics! sounds awesome bro.

No more fruity pebbles in the tank and natural rock now too? Wow C_B, you better look out or next thing you know, you'll seem like an experienced fishkeeper. Like those guys said, don't forget the pics!

Hey CB, since you are posting about the same tank, you should continue an existing thread, not start a new one. I'll merge this with your other thread.

Pics with new sand?
