OMG i just looked at the grammodes pic and at the LFS they have a grammode list as an adult JD for 12.60 A GRAMODE OMG that is really cheap for one.. i told the lady there and she was like, well what do u think it is?? and i told her, ITS NOT A JD!! and she said uh yah it is! we now our cichs so dont test us. so the grammode was hiding in the lil tank they have there by himself
 
wow if its a grammode thats a good price how big is it ?

jewels are african so they like differn't water and they can be pretty aggressive they would most likely fight hard to say who would win if they were the smae size it could work but theres a good chance it wouldn't

yeah i've been to a few lfs that didn't know what a dither was most did but just didn't call them that mabye she miss under stood you they are a target for aggression not to distract them so they don't show aggression

Actually thats right. Have you seen a breeding pair of jewels in a tank with other fish? Its nuts.

I agree honestly I think many of us started with convicts,dempseys,oscars,maybe red devils/midas,or managuense. Convicts breeding by accident is what caused me to want to try breeding other cichlids. When I am able to keep fish Again I will keep convicts again. If you can try some HRP too I want to see if they are truly a seperate species or just a geographic variant. Obviously with so many pages you are appreciated.
 
well i have 3 new JD all are one inches one with a deformed mouth got rid of all my female cons but one thats an inch and is in a 2.5 gallon hexagon growing out and kept 3 male cons so yah im done with geting more cichs
 
I just wanted to say I really like your Cons...they are on my "someday" list...but I have to be able to get a Jag first, my next tank after the 75 I'm working on will be a Jag for sure....then hopefully some cons!
 
what the hell man. why did you do that? i was starting to respect you as a fish keeper, since all of the nice changes you made to your tank.

you should know that jacks need 55 gallons to live with tank mates, and around 40 on their own
