wow if its a grammode thats a good price how big is it ?

jewels are african so they like differn't water and they can be pretty aggressive they would most likely fight hard to say who would win if they were the smae size it could work but theres a good chance it wouldn't

yeah i've been to a few lfs that didn't know what a dither was most did but just didn't call them that mabye she miss under stood you they are a target for aggression not to distract them so they don't show aggression

Actually killerfish, jewels come from African rivers, not rift lakes. African river systems are not all that different from South American river systems in water quality. But that's beside the point, I was just throwing that out there.

To say that jewels can be pretty aggressive is a bit of an understatement. I would say that they could be compared to homicidal maniacs, especially when breeding. I just picked up a known breeding pair from my LFS. They were separated from the other jewels because they killed too many of their tankmates when they spawned.

In summation, C_B, you should not get jewels unless you have an empty 20-30g tank sitting around collecting dust and are looking for something to occupy the space.

JD do grow moderately slow buddy, but it's better to buy fish for the tank you already have, as opposed to buying fish for a tank that you plan on getting. You never know what might come up in the time between now and when you plan on buying the upgraded tank.

I agree you were doing so great you proved everyone wrong and your tank turned out nice you had some really nice convicts and your convicts were starting to breed you were doing great.

I had respect for you and high hopes and was proud that you proved everyone wrong but then you turn it all around ignore everyone yet agian and buy a whole lot of random fish and get rid of your females cons .

It was really disspointing i wish you would of stuck with the convict breeding idea because you were doing so great but you have just ****ed that up now.
But hey it might turn out in some way hopefully it does but i wish you sticked with breeding convicts because some of those convicts were really nice and it was turning out great and you had some great respect from many people well hope it turns out in some way sorry but i had to vent mate i am done now.
