So my dad and i are planning to make a above ground pond. He said that he wants to make a filtration system with out a pump. I told him it wont work but he insist it will work? What do you guys think????

i thought about it to and it's inpossible. water will always flow downwards not way it can flow up with out a pump.
i don't see how you would make the water flow into the filter without a pump of some sort, so i don't think it would work very well.
most filters use a pump to either get water to the filter or get it back from the filter you'll need a pump to perform one of those functions (but never both).

What you will have in that pond is stagnant water. A virtule toxic soup for aquatic life. Why no pump?
^^^ yea i dont really understand it either there isnt really a reason I could think of why you wouldnt want a pump.
well actually i correct myself i just thought of something. I used to have this old magnum when i turn off the motor it still runs. The flow rate wasn't great but it worked...
