I like the discus you have a lot, but not *personally* a fan of the setup now. Obviously others are though :). If it were my tank I'd probably add a light coloured natural looking substrate, throw in some nice wood pieces, get a variety of ferns, swords and other leafy plants and a set up a moss carpet or two. IMO that is the best looking FW tank there is.. planted discus tank :).

If you are looking to do a planted discus tank, other then what you have. I would first do an established planted tank and then add your discus.

I can't remember what it's called--no it hasn't ever flowered in the 10 years I've had it.

here is my discus tank. any suggestions on any other aquascaping, plants, etc i can add to make it look better? let me know ...thanks!
Only thing I would recommend doing, is not following the above advice to add substrate. Adding it will decrease your water quality, and cause more problems. Adding some corydoras would help with cleaning up any food the discus miss, but will also add to your bioload. Personally, I'd leave it as is, and let them grow up.

That's a lot of discus in there. Without any substrate, it's going to be difficult to keep the nitrate down. What's your WC schedule?
Adding substrate will increase both nitrate and phosphate levels. BB will keep the parameters in better standings.
