My f1 Festae

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nice, thats a female by the way, you can tell because of the black on the dorsal fin, males dont get this.

how big is she?

she will get deeper red/orange as maturing..

nice parents, has it still got the defined black on the dorsal?? festae are quite well known for disguising as the opposite sex but that first pic is a female.

yeh well they can loose it partially, whe there stressed it can go into a bluer colour and it may seem to decrease in size.

another way to sec is the cyan spots on the body, as it matures it should loose them, they dont always loose all of the cyan colouration so its not an accurate way.

as you can see in the link you posted to J rambo's thread, the male is covered in cyan spots but the female has next to none, your female may still have some at this stage because its not fully matured yet.

can u get any updated pics?

my goal for a male festae is one exactly like this one http://www.cichlids.com/uploads/tx_usercichlids/01_Male_Festae_28.jpg

you have a batch of 10 right? i would have thought you will get a male like him, i used to have an F1 pair and the male was similar to the linked one except nicer.

you got any pics of the other lot??
