My fat Raphael cat

Haha they're so goofy!! I got mine a couple weeks back and it just got out of QT, thought 10$ was a good deal for a 4 incher. He went insane for a little in the QT, flying around the sides like a pleco but not nearly as graceful. Mine also squeaks whenever I take it out of water haha loud enough for me to feel the vibrations in the pitcher I use to scoop him up, I totally forgot about that the first time and it scared the crap out of me lol. He squeaks up a storm whenever my red hi fin wolf goes near him. Seems to love piling with my polys, they don't seem to mind either.

Question for the guys who've kept them a long time I only use fake plants in my setup, should I add a cave for him? I don't really like caves in tank, I was told by an old bichir keeper to keep them un-territorial to not put in caves so I've went by that for quite a while.

Haha yea thats why it goes crazy. No hiding spot. Hiding spots give them security I guess haha. But yea put a little cave. they grow super slow but eat enough to make them seem big lol. And my raph isn't territorial at all. U got any pics of your cat?

Here's a pic, first pic I got of him and I fashioned a little tight area for him to chill in and he seems to like it. Are these guys like most other cats, not very picky? Mine takes worms and sinking hikari carni pellets, only other catfish I ever kept is Corydoras so I'm a newb to the bigger guys

I'm probably sounding derpy at this point but this guy isn't gonna try to suck slime coat like a pleco right? Never heard of it but also came across the interesting fact juveniles have been seen in the wild cleaning hoplias aimara wolf fish of parasites and such so I hope that doesn't translate into a taste for slime

Mine comes out night and day. Even if my cat doesnt see the food its like he can smell it and that's when he comes out.
Sounds like you licked up on that guy as most of them rarely show themselves...I've had some that I had forgotten about until I moved a piece of decor and disturbed them.

^mines pretty active too, but it also doesnt have a solid spot like a cave to hide in, just a group of densley put together plants, still cruises about once in a while i love the hooks on the sides

Yep,I love their look but most of them don't really lend themselves to aquarium life.
