Nova, the D40 is a great little camera if you don't want to switch lenses. The lenses on the D40 are a lot more expensive because of the focusing mechanism that's built into it. If you want to eventually get a collection of lenses (macro, telephoto, wide angle, etc), spring for the D80. Unfortunately the D50 is discontinued. IMO it's the best entry level DSLR. On the upside, the D80 has a LOT of useful features that are absent on the lower end cameras. Thanks for the compliments:) Photography is just something I enjoy.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look for a D80 then cause I would want to be able to change lenses. I did look into the D50 and the only way to get it was second hand but I'd prefer to buy new. In my area it will probably be difficult to find one though as of yet I have only seen the D40. O-well, just part of the fun. Thanks
