My eel was bought from a local shop 1 yr ago as a small eel, he was probably around 10 inches. Given space, water changes and lots of food they grow really quickly

I got mine about a year and a half ago and they were 4". Now, one is 17" and super thick and the other is about 15-16".

If you guys purchase an eel that is under 10", do you keep them in a "grow-out" tank if the permanent tank is stocked with bichir and rope fish?

Just wondering if there's a chance of an eel being eaten if it's that small and with larger tank mates.

depends on the size of the bichir but if the ropes are safe then the eel should be safe
