My first attempt at a planted tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I actually think that you're better off with having the Golden Algae Eater die. He would have done a number on the Discus. The Golden Algae Eater (Chinese Algae Eater) becomes extremely aggressive. I've heard tons of stories of them eating the slime coat off of fish and terrorizing them.

So my 60G has had a hard time with the plants. But the 40G is doing great and pregressing like crazy. Elodia is taking over but it is all good.
I am not going to put any new plants into my 60G. The substrate isnt working and I am not brave enough to try fertilizers with my fish. I have an 150G in my car and once we move I am going to put both the 40G and 60G into the 150G. It will be a while. Any pointers are always appreciated. Thanks.

So I have a 150G in my car and I am thinking of only having 1 tank. So I would take the 60G and 40G and combine them into 1 monster tank? Well maybe. I probably wont do anything till we move. So maybe some time soon I will have to put pictures of the process. We'll see. It is my 2nd 150G. But I have never gotten one setup yet. I have everything I just need to build a stand and canopy.

So here is where we are so far.

It's very fun looking at pics of your discus, keep'em coming!
Sorry about your losses.

I have changed the lighting to 2 T8 41k lamps. I have moved a few plants from my 40G to the 60g because everything is growing like crazy in my 40G.

Your fish are a little pointy, but other than that they are absolutely gorgeous. Keep up the work man.
