My first Dat!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
IMHO, some fish can be shy and if u feed them x times a day. They will recognize you more and more each time feed them. This will help them be more active like a Hungary dog in your fish tank like behavior much faster then not have a feeding schedule. This has worked for me even with really picky fish. Routine is key for my pets.
Makes sense.

Nice dat! I have my first dat as well. Mine's very shy, though. It is the 2nd largest fish in my tank at 13-14" yet he stays in one area of the tank all day. First day, he thought that my albino Oscar's the same kind of fish he is and has been too "clingy" with her. The Oscar got so scared and stressed for the first 3 days he's in there. Finally, he went back to his old self when I first saw him - very shy and only moves when feeding. Does not even come near me. He has this habit of swimming face-down when I go near the tank.

Nice Dat there.... im new to Dats as well.. :)
Thanks
how big is it?
About 3-4"

hmmm, odd. This guy was very skittish for the first week, always hiding, or darting away when I approached the tank. He was unstable for the first week. I went a grabbed some tinfoil barbs as dithers, and as soon as I placed them in the tank, boom stable, and active. This video was literally 5 minutes after introducing the barbs. He's much more stable now.

nice... First i got two... one survived and was quite stable... then i got 5 more... all the others are quite unstable, but the first guy is a bully and stable... others are catching on... ur barb dithers is something i will try as well.... cheers ;)

looking good! nice to be in one of your threads for a change!

some advice.. normally I would recommend eat or die but since ngt's are as likely to choose the second (possibly because of the poor quality they often are in from shipping) I say go for feeders if need be, he looks kind of thin.. NGT's seem more likely to accept crustaceans as dead food than fish..

he has a lot of black in him and real nice markings.. fatten him up and he'll be a looker in no time.. :D

nice NGT! I wish my first dat was a NGT
Nice one man, I really like the look of this one :)
Thanks
